The Chestermere Mustangs are excited to welcome René Gnap to our organization as our Team Trainer and Equipment Manager.
Originally from Slovakia, René brings a unique blend of European and North American hockey experience, along with a strong passion for player development and strength & conditioning.
René holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Coaching and Conditioning from the University of Ostrava and a Czech C+ Ice Hockey Coaching Licence. His coaching experience includes working with youth players at HC Vítkovice Ridera and supporting player development programs with HC Prešov, where he focused on skating, skill development, and building strong hockey fundamentals.
As a player, René competed in Slovakia’s highest U18 league before continuing his career with HC RT TORAX Poruba at the U20 level in the Czech Republic. He later moved to Canada to play Junior A hockey, giving him valuable experience in both the European and North American styles of the game.
As the Mustangs’ Team Trainer and Equipment Manager, René will play a vital role in preparing our players for success every day. His expertise in strength and conditioning, attention to detail, and commitment to player development will help ensure our athletes are physically prepared and supported throughout the season.
René believes in building confident, disciplined athletes through accountability, communication, and continuous improvement. His enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication to helping players reach their full potential make him an outstanding addition to the Chestermere Mustangs organization.
